The Cocker Spaniel (officially known as the American Cocker Spaniel) is a breed of dog who appears frequently in Lady and the Tramp. This breed is not to be confused with the English Cocker Spaniel, as none of them have appeared in the Lady and the Tramp franchise yet.

The American Cocker is the smallest breed recognized by the American Kennel Club as a sporting dog. As demonstrated by Lady, real American Cockers do have long, curly, beautiful ears (though not quite as long). They are about 13.5-15.5 inches at the withers. They typically weigh around 24 to 30 pounds. The American Cocker Spaniel was the most popular dog in the United States for 26 years, although in 1991 the Labrador Retriever took the spot, and has remained there ever since.
